A Correction.
[to the editor.!
Sir,—My attention has been called to a local in a recent issue of your newspaper, in which it was stated that. Mr G. 11. Tully, of Longbush, Wairarapa, had purchased the late Bishop Iladlield's property oHO,OOO acres at Waikanae. The price paid was stated to be something loss than £10,000. Allow me to rectify two errors in the above statement—(l) Tho price paid is something more than £10,000-being£ll per acre : a matter of no great importance to the general' public. (2j The late Bishop lladlield never bought or was grautod any land at, or near "Waikanae, or in any other part of New Zealand; and is only indebted to the country which so vastly benefited by his Avhole life's labour, for the few feet of land where his
remains rest. I sold the 10,000 acres of
land referred to, to Mr Tully—it is half the « block I purchased nearly thirty years ago. -.either Bishop Had field, nor any member "' of his family, ever had any interest in it, directly or indirectly. -I am, etc., John* Hadfield. Waikanae, May 6th, 1906.
