MAURICEVILLE NEWS.
(Special to Daily Times.) The census man has come and gone, and your correspondent has not heard of any surprising incidents in connection with the sub-enumerator's canvas of the Mauriceville district. There are no little tales to tell of the census taking of the fowls by candle light; nor yet the thread-bare yarn of a schedule being refused, lest it be a more formidable blue document. , A change in the proprietory *^P. the Mauriceville Hotel is to be made at the'end of this month, Mr Hofieins having disposed of his interest to Mr F. M. Ross, of Feilding. Mr J. E. Deadman gave a very pleasant party on Friday evening, the occasion being the opening of his new house at Mauriceville West, which has just left the hands of the contractor, Mr W. Fisher. The Mauriceville Social Club have been asked to give one of their popular entertainments in aid of the Building Fund of the Masterton Hospital. The matter will be considered at the lirst meeting of the' Club, to be held on June Ist. The friends of Master M. O'Brien, who recently underwent an operation, will regret to learn that his condition is somewhat serious.
