*Ar Wellington Wool and Skin ™ Sales.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report as follows :—At our sale we offered a large quantity of skins, 20 bales wool, and a fair quantity of hides, tallow and horsehair. Prices for sheepskins ancl wool were firm at a slight advance on last salo's rates. We have to record a further drop in hides in sympathy with decline in Australian markets. We quoto :—Wool— Halfbred, medium quality, to lid, coarse crossbred stragglers !)|d to 9|d, crutchings from Gjcl to7!d, pieces -Lid to B.[d. SheepskinsSound pelted crossbred, half-woolled, t)Jd to lOd, short BJd to 9J-d, halfbred and merino 9dto 10.| d," broken and dead 7d to S',d, green skins from 5s to Gs lOd, lambs, woolly 5s to 5s 7d. Hides -No prime lots forward for this sale. For slippy ox aud cow we obtained from 4 : j*d to 5,_-d, cut and slippy 3i-d to -id, calf, sound from s.}d to 5Jd, cut and slippy 2d to -ij-d, tallow in tins 15s to , 18s, in casks 20s to 22s per cwt. Murray, Roberts and Co. report :—We _ Mr offered 2000 sheepskins, .'SO bales wool, and mf2oo hides and calfskins to a good attendance of buyers. Prices for wool ancl skins were well maintained, with an occasional advance on best lots of skins. A few early lots of crutchings were offered and met with good inquiry, "in sympathy with the Australian market prices for hides were easier, and in some cases ;;d below last sale. Hides -Good medium ox : 1,.d to 5.U1 per lb, good medium cow 5d to s.]d, light hides -Id to sd, damaged and cut hides 3.U1 to -lj-cl ; calf, medium 4Jd to s]d, slippy and cut 2;id to 3Jd. The date of our next sale is May "25th. Levin aiid Co , Limited, report :—We offered 30 bales wool, 2000 skins, 200 hides, aud a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Wool was keenly competed for, aud the advance in London was reflected in the sales

Crutchings are now coming and are meeting with strong deat advancing prices We quote : — Coarse crossbred 9.1 dto inferior and logstained B.UI to !)jd ; pieces and bellies, 7d to 7i|d ; locks, 3d to 5d ; good lambs' wool lOd to lid ; medium 9d to 9;d ; seedy G.ld to S|d ; crutchings, extra superior, up to'9d. good 7d to Sd, seedy and inferior 5M to 6;; cL Skins -There is no change to record. We quote : Merinos, Oil to 9__d ; fine crossbreds 9d to lOd, coarse 9d to 9 r ;d ; dead skins, Sd to Ski ; short wools, S£d to 9.J-d ; woolly skins, green, 6s Gd to 7s 2d ; woolly lambs' skins, green, 5s 5d to Gs -Id ; lambs' pelts 3s to 3s lOd. Tallow— Casks 21s 3d, tins ISs, sacks 13s 9d. Horsehair, 3s 6d to 2s per lb. Horns, 7s to ISs per 100. Hides have fallen further in Australia, and there are unfavourable reports oc the future. Prices here have fallen further. We now quote : —Ox hides 5d to 5.1 d per lb, cow 5d to 5/id, cut ancl slippy hides 3d to-Ud, calfskins'od to SUI. Dalgety ancl Company, Limited, Wellington, report:—Wool showed an advance of .[-d per lb on previous sale rates, consequent upon the rise in the London market. We quote :—Crossbred fleece 9;,-d to lOd, lambs' wool 9j_d to 9;] d, dead wool up to 9}-d, crutchings GUI to 7Jd, locks and first pieces 4_,d to s'Jd. " Skins.'—There was no fluctuations as compared with last sale prices.

Hides -In sympathy with the weakening of the market in Melbourne and Sydney, hides showed a drop of jd to 2d per lb. Quotations are : — Good ox 5Jd to 5.1 d, light ox -lj_-d to sd, good cow 5d to sj}d, light cow i\d to -IJd, calf s£-d to s[id. Horse hides 3s. Horsehair Is Id t f ." Is 5d per lb.
