* . — General Committee Meeting. The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon. Mr R. Gray (president) was in the chair, and there were also present:—Messrs J. Stuckey, W. J. Welch, G. C. Summerell, F. C. Lewis, T. P. Lett, D. McGregor, junr, B. Rayner, W. Perry, W. Cooper, J.Strang, R. J. Dagg, D. Guild, J. P. Perry, J. Macrae, and E.E. Chamberlain. Several apologies for absence were rec.ived. Miss Jessie Campbell, of Wanganui, wrote expressing her appreciation of the hospitality shown her while at the last Show. The Canterbury A. and P. Association advised that their dates for next Show had been fixed for 6th, 7th, Bth and 9th November ; and the Wairarapa Society their dates for 23rd and 2 Ith October. Mr J. Stuckey suggested that in future the stewards in the produce department be other than exhibitors, and make separate classes for rough and bearded dogs. The defect in the grandstand was also drawn attention to. —The letter was referred to the suggestion book. On the motion of Mr Stuckey, it was decided that the General Committee should meet at one o'clock during the winter months, to enable those who have some distance to travel to reach home in good time. The Ground Committee recommended the final payment to Messrs Coradine and Whittaker of £33, on account of building the grandstand. It was decided to meet on the grounds on June 2nd, for the purpose of making suggestions for necessary improvements adopted. The report of the Finance Committee stated a letter had been considered from Mr F. W. Ellis (Feilding) in which he applied for refund of portion of entry fees having been charged for four while he was allowed to compete in only one. It was recommended that 10s be refunded. Mr G. W. Sellar, hon. sec. of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union wrote asking the Association to allow a rebate of £2 on occasions of Taranaki and Manawatu matches played last year, and intimating that the Union would be willing to use the ground for the purpose of football matches at a fee of £1 per match. It was decided to inform the Rugby Union the Committee is unable to accede to the request made. The manager of the National Fire ancl Marine Insurance Co., stated that owing to the action of the Government against the insurance offices his Company were unable to continue the customary donation. It was decided to forward the original donation list to the Manager, showing thereon the Company's stamp and Manager's initial. It was decided to meet on Thursday, June 7th, for the purpose of revising the defaulter's list, The financial position was reported as follows :—Dr balance last month £452 Is 9d, expenditure for month £61 2s sd, receipts £113 13s, leaving a debit of £376 8s Bd. Accounts amounting to £106 12s 7d were recommended for payment.—-Adopted. Three resignations from membership were accepted, and new members elected were as follows: Messrs W. Boustead, junr, T. Saunders, E. Page, T. Moss and J. Birch.
