CARTERTON NOTES.

(Special to Daily Times.)

It is apparently not the easiest billet acting as gatekeeper at a football match. On Saturday the gentleman guarding the gate at the Carterton-Masterton match, was approached by two individuals who declined to pay the price of admission. A discussion ensued, and the gatekeeper proceeded to take off his coat, which was enough for the party who desired free admission, and they decamped.

Mr W. Howard Booth has donated £2 towards the funds of the local Brass Band.

At the football match, Carterton v. Masterton, on Saturday, the spectators constantly encroached beyond their boundary, and they were on more than one occasion called upon to move back.

A wedding of interest to Belvedere and Dalefield residents is announced for the end of the month.
