THE NEWSPAPER PRESS DIRECTORY.

• Sixty*first Annual Issue, 1906t

Messrs C. Mitchell and Co., the well-known advertising agents of 1 and 2 Snow Hill, E.C., have just published the sixty-first annual issue of "The Newspaper Press Directory," the complete guide to' the British, Colonial and foreign press. This excellent work of reference quite maintains its reputation for completeness and accuracy of information. It presents a mass of detailed knowledge relating to the newspaper world which it would be impossible to obtain elsewhere except at an expenditure of time and money which would make the effort prohibitive. The information is so carefully co-ordinated that it is readily accessible, and the result is a work of reference of exceptional value to exporters and business men generally, as well as to all interested in newspapers.

Following a practice now of many yeAj- , duration, prominence has again been to a series of special articles, bearing more or less directly upon subjects pertinent to newspaper literature or the trade interests the Directory desires to foster. The notable changes which occurred in the newspaper world during the past year are duly chronicled, and brief appreciations appear of several famous newspaper proprietors and writers who joined the majority in 1905. An article of special value to all newspaper writers deals with recent judicial decisions in cases oE libel, copyright and newspaper insurance ; another entitled " Commerciyl Advertising" presents art interesting contrast between past and present methods of publicity, and contains suggestive hints regarding the best means of taking due advantage of this distinctive feature of a commercial age.

The Customs tariffs of the colonies are presented in a form easy of reference, and exporters will be sure to find the statistics of leading exports and imports of interest and utility. -'^fc*' In conclusion, we may reiterate liiat " The Newspaper Press Directory " of 1906 is a worthy successor to its sixty previous issues. The volume covers a wide field of interest and fully justifies its well-estab-lished reputation as a first-class work of reference.
