CORRESPONDENCE.

The Septic Tank

[to the editor.]

Sir, —At a recent meeting of the Masterton Borough Council it was mentioned that the septic tank was working successfully—as a Councillor remarked " as sweet as a nut." If some of the Councillors who endorsed that opinion, had been in the vicinity of the tank this morning, they would have changed their

minds on the subject. I, in company with some others, passed within about four i hundred yards of the locality on my way to the Show and the effluvium arising was something to be remembered. —I etc., J. B. McKenzie.
