WEST'S PICTURES AND THE BRESCIANS.
Paganini, the king of the violinists, performed at the Royal concert given at the Savoy Court a love duet upon two strings of his magic fiddle. A princess of the Court, enamoured by his superb playing, said : " Signor Paganini, since you have done so well on two strings, pray let us hear a solo upon one." The virtuoso then played his " Pregheria" upon the G string, which will remain famous for all time. This brilliant solo will be played by Miss Adelina Martinengo, the lady violinist of the Brescian Company, who appear at the Town Hall on Monday next, and local violinists will have an opportunity of learning the great difficulties as well as the beauties of this
solo; indeed, Miss Martinengo is the only
lady violinist who publicly performs it. £fe~. Those of our readers who intend being present at the opening performance should book their seats or secure tickets early.
