THE PANAMA CANAL.
(Received To-day, at 8.48 a.m.)
Washington, Last Night,
President Roosevelt, speaking at Florida, said the work of the Panama canal had sufficiently advanced to enable him to announce it would certainly be accomplished probably at less expense than he anticipated.
The United States ought, he said, to police the canal district.
