The forecast of the weather is:—"Fine, cool, with light winds." A big crowd of inter-State and other visitors is expected.

There was a large amount of betting, to-day, ovor tho Caulfield Cup, and it was fairly well distributed. Maniapoto was backed to win £5000 at at 100 to 6 and 6i; Canteen £4000 at 100 to 1. and 2 ; Emir £2000 at 100 to 7-_-; Proceedor £3500 at 100 to 1 i and 2; Warroo £3500 at 100 to s£; Domas £3000 at 100 to 2*; Torah £3000 at 6i- to 1; Dantzic £4000 at 100 to 2; Rosemead £2500 at 100 to 6; Moani £2000 at 100 to 2.

The closing prices to-night were:—6 to 1 Torah, 15 to 2 Boabdil, 12 to 1 Emir, Marvel Loch and Pius, 15 to 1 Maniapoto and Rosemead, 10 to 1 Warroo and Roller, 20 to 1 Scott Free, 50 to 1 Canteen.
