RONGOKOKAKO NOTES.
(Special to Daily Times.)
Spring weather has at last set in, and feed is now coming on rapidly. The milk supply at the local cheese factory is daily increasing, the quantity now received being about three hundred gallons more than at this time last year. The highest test last week was _"3 and the lowest 3*l.
The mortality in the dairy herds this year has been exceptionally high ; in fact, it surpasses all previous records. There is hardly a settler who has not lost valuable cows— some as many as nine head.
The lambing returns for the district have been very satisfactory, about ninety per cent, being the average.
It is noticeable that several settlers are trying the " salting " process, in connection with ragwort, this year. I understand it
has been demonstrated that if the process of Afcsalting" is thoroughly carried out, it will eradicate the pest.
