DRUNKENNESS
A first offender was fined five shillings, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness.
An elderly man named William Higgins was charged with a second offence of drunkenness within six months. Sergeant O'Malley stated that the accused, wlid had been drinking heavily for some days, was before the Court on Wednesday last, and was' fined five shillings, in. default twentyfour hours' imprisonment. He served the sentence, and on being Jibarated yesterday he immediately got drunk again. A fine of ten shillings, in default forty eight hours' imprisonment, was imposed. PROHIBITION ORDER. Fanny Langley applied for a prohibition order against her husband, Walter Smith Langley. The defendant, who had been served with a notice of the proceedings, ■failed to appear. Evidence was given that Langley had been drinking heavily since July last. Tho Bench granted the order.
