Heavy rain fell during the morning, but the weather is now clearing. Under the circumstances the attendance is good. The' course is very heavy. Results :—
October Hurdles—South Star, 1; Taxpayer, 2 ; Florio, 3. Scratched—Gipsy Jack. Won by half-a-dozen lengths. Time, 3min 33 l-ssec. Dividends, £3 4s and 14s.
Shorts Handicap.—Medallist, 1; Coxswain, 2; Hinurewa, 3. Scratched—Solution, Ballarat, Marguerite, St. Claimer, Veneer, Gawain, and Prelude. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time, lmin 6 S-Ssec! Dividends, £4 and £3 9s.
