- The only local celebrations of Trafalgar Day wero tho school ceremonies, the flag being saluted and appropriate addresses given.
The centenary of Trafalgar was celebrated at the Masterton District High School, yesterday afternoon. The scholars assembled in the School grounds at half-past two, and patriotic addresses were delivered" by Rev. D. J. Murray, MrR. Brown (chairman of tho School Committee), Mr J. Heyhoe and Mr W. H. Jackson (head-master). It was empressed upon tho children that while they might not all be able to rise to eminence as Lord Nelson had done, yet they could all emanate the example he had set by doing their duty. At the conclusion ol the addresses the British (lag was unfurled, and cheered and saluted by the scholars. The function concluded with the singing of the National anthem.
