New South Wales Liquor Bill
(Received Last Night at 10.10 p.m.)
Sydnsy, Yesterday,
The Legislative Assembly had a stormy all-night sitting on the Liquor Bill. On the clause providing that no one should be employed in a bar under the age of 16 a temperance member sitting on the Government side of the House moved to strike out 16, with a view lo inserting 18, and this was carried against the Government.
The Attorney General declared that if the Bill wero mutilated by the Government's own supporters, and the House generally, the Government would not take the responsibility of it.
A heated debate followed, intermingled with cries of " Resign !"
The age was eventually fixed at 17

Ratification of the Orient Mail
Contract
Prohibition of Opium
(Received To-day. at 9.42 a.m.) Melbourne, This Day. The Senate adopted the Home Rule motion by 16 to 11.
They also ratified the Orient mail contract.
Mr Keating (Honorary Minister) stated that the Government decided six weeks ago to give the Company notice to terminate the existing contract in two years from January 31st next.
The House adopted on the voices a motion in favour of prohibiting the importation of opium except for medical purposes.
