SALVATION ARMY SALE OF WORK.
The Salvation Army Sale of AVork was concluded in the Foresters' Hall last evening. There was a large attendance, and the business done at the various stalls was again satisfactory. During the evening a musical programme was given, the Mayor again taking the chair. Those contributing items were Mesdames Harding and Edwards t Misses J. Bennington, E. Judd, M. Devonport, and F. Green, Messrs R. J. Young, J. Nicol, H. Kemp and Lawrence. The accompanistes were Misses J. Bennington, N. Bridges, V. Edwards and Church. The items were all much appreciated, Miss Judd and Mr Kemp receiving encores. Miss E. Buttrick gave two humorous recitations, which proved very acceptable items.
At the conclusion of the entertainment Adjutant Powick thanked the Mayor, the Municipal Band, the vocalists, stallholders, and all others who had assisted in making the sale a success.
The judging in the competition for homemade scones took place during the evening) the first prize being won by Miss E. Reeves*
