There was an unusually large attendance at Tattersall's for the calling of the Epsom card. The betting was spirited, though business was not so large as expected.
Maniapoto was backed for all the money available (about £2,200) at 100 to 30. The prices offering at the close were : 100 to 33 Maniapoto, 100 to 15 P.K, 100 to 12 Famous, 100 to 9 Lord Fitzroy, 100 to 8 Warroo, 100 to 6 Sleepor, 100 to 5 Machine Gun. The Sydney Morning Herald tips Lord Fitzroy, Boabdil, and Maniapoto i'or the Epsom Handicap; Avhile tho Daily Telegraph selects Maniapoto, P.K., and Boabdil. Both papers choose Charles Stuart for the Derby. Rangitikei Racing Club. The following weights have been declared by Mr J. E.
