In our interesting record of old Masterton, published on Tuesday last, there was one reference which was somewhat misleading. The late Mr Henry Bannister was referred to as"Pompey." This epithet was incorrect, 'as it was one of his sons who was known by that name. AYe may state that we were ourselves intimate with the late Mr Henry Bannister for many years, and knew him as a generous employer of labour, who paid good wages in hard cash, and who encouraged his employes to save money. The portion of the report concerning his method of referring men to his store was quite inaccurate. In every relation of life the late Mr Bannister was honoured and respected.
