The Willis Case.
(Received Last Night, at 9.40 p.m.)
Sydney, Yesterday.
McNair, Mr Willis" ■ clerk, threw some further light on the Haynes-Melville affair to-day. He stated that,' Melville had told him that Haynes and-others were conspiring to black-mail Willis, and had offered to swear an information if necessity arose. Subsequently he returned.to witness and said that the.whbloaffair' could be arranged for £500. Witness was indignant at Melville's action, as he (Melville) had no authority to do what he had done. McNair read several telegrams which passed between him and Willis, which showed that the latter was temporising with Melville with a view to trapping Melville and Haynes as blackmailers.
