Mr Ell asked who was to blame for this constant demand for the expenditure of Government money ? Demands were corning from all parts of the House, and members of the Opposition were not consistent. They were asking for money for roads, bridges, railways and harbours, and yet reviled the Government for borrowing money for public works. As to assistance to settlers, the aid given them by the Government's policy of advancing money to settlers amply demonstrated their sympathy in that direction. Mr Flatman moved the adjournment of the debate. The House rose at 12.35 a.m.
