A GIGANTIC ROSE BUSH.
In the Botanic Gardens at Kew there is a rose bush, , one of whose shoots has a length of 50ft. Planted in the central bed of the " Succulent House," it has grown up to and along the roof, and out through a ventilator shaft into the open air. It belongs to a Burmese species named the liosu (jigantea, which is a very striking object in the forests covering the Shan hills. But although no difficulty has been experienced in germinating the seeds and developing the plants at Kew, and although their growth has been so extraordinary, the transplanted Burmese roses have never produced a single 7 flower in English air.
