Last Night's Cables.
(Received Last Night, at 10.23 p.m.) London, Yesterday. The Russians are following the three main roads towards Kivin and Chanchun. The rearguard on Tuesday were twenty miles .north of Kaiyuen, and were being closely pursued. General Linevitch, from Changchun, reports that the Japanese outposts are at ' • Mancheutsu, to the south-west. Russian advices from Sipinghai, 70 miles north of Tieling, state that the First Army in retreating did not lose any guns and were driven from none of their positions. On the other hand they captured seven machine H .guns and four hundred prisoners. ™ The Russian wounded in the retreat include many doctors and Sisters of Charity. Eight of the latter were klled. (Received Laat Night, at 10.50 p.m.) St. Petersburg, Yesterday. A spontaneous peace demonstration occurred in the Nevsky Prospect, St. Petersburg, five hundred people shouting, " Stop the war!"
