PARKINSON'S STAR ALMANAC.
This carefully-compiled and really valuable Hawera publication for 1905 is to hand, and is, if anything, an improvement on its predecessors. It is without doubt one of the best —perhaps the best —and most reliable book almanac and directory issued in the colonies. It is just the kind of book which the town or country resident cannot very well do without. Its table of 'Frisco mail arrivals and departures is as useful to the rural inhabitants as to the business man in town or city. The contents of the Almanac include such useful infor. mation as remedies for blight, business forms, local Court sittings, Customs tariffs, very lull directories from New Plymouth to Palmerston North (inclusive), tablesof distances, details of electoral qualifications, general farm information, which appears to have been very carefully compiled, fishing regulations, garden calendars, particulars of new legislation, postal and telegraph guide, railway passenger rates, stamp duties, population and agricultural and pastoral statistics, county and borough valuations, sittings of local bodies, wages table, weights and measures, and numerous other items selected so as to make the Almanac what it is intended to be— an invaluable vadc inecum and settlers' guide and district and general encyclopedia. The compilers and publishers are equally entitled to be congratulated on their very excellent and well got-up production.
