The first number of the " over-sea edition " of the London Daily Mail has been sent to us for review, and on the whole we don't think very much of it. There is something in it about " the heart of the Empire," and concerning Sir Alfred Harms worth, Bart.; but this hardly compensates for thin paper and blurred type. Colonists like a comfortable paper to read, and this " the over sea edition " is not. We do not quite understand what the alleged Message from the Heart of the Empire is, unless we take the more preminent headline of the messenger, and these spell the enigmatic phrase " Mackintosh's Toffee." reminding one slightly of the Pickwickan " Chops and Tomato Sauce." The " over-sea edition" is susceptible of marked improvement, for in its present form it seems almost an emanation from London fog.
