A . case presenting extraordinary features came before tho Magistrate's Court to-day. A girl sued a settler named Pearco for assault, and her evidence was supported by tho girl's friend, who was allegedly' in tho house at tho timo. Things wero looking dark for defendant when a married sister of the girl alleged to havo been assaulted walked voluntarily into the box and swore that the whole thing was " a put up job," and that plaintiff had "told "her she intended to bring tho action to " got i>so out of Pearce." She added that "slio had given her sistor away because her sister had given her away." Tho case was dismissed.
