The captain and all the superior officers of the Rurik were lost, in all 23 officers were saved.
Of the 600 survivors landed at Sasebo 177 are wounded, many mortally. Admiral Togo's latest report states that there were 225 Japanese casualties in the battle on the tenth. The heavy rains have begun. The bridges over the Taise river have been swept away. Reuters Agency reports that the Japanese occupied Tsiantsin on General Kuropatkin's extreme left flank. They are also working round to westward.
