Dunkdin, Last Night,

As a result of the recent police raid, Henry Vczey was charged, to-day, at Balclutha with having for sale twenty bottles of beer and thirteen of whisky. Accused kept a small fruit-shop, and the inference sought to be drawn was that in a back room, where the liquor was kept, discreet persons could enter and assist themselves and leave the money, while accused was in the front shop, where lie had a good view. Accused denied that the whisky belonged to him or had been ordered by him. A conviction was recorded, and a line of =£50 and costs inflicted.
