LATE EX-PRESIDENT KRUGER.
Arrangements for the
Interment.
London, Yesterday.
The Daily MaiVs Pretoria correspondent states that the interment of the late Mr Kruger has been fixed for Dingaan's Day.
[The Zulu chief Dingaan ruled over the whole of Zululand, and most of the present Natal. In 1838 he defeated the emigrant Boers under Pieter Retief at Weenen, when as many as 800 fell before the irresistible onslaught of the disciplined Zulu warriors. Dingaan was soon afterwards defeated by Andries Pretorious at Graff Reinet, and in 1840 was murdered. Dingaan's Day has since been one of the chief Boer holdings. A monument in commemoration of the victory was erected at Krugorsdorp.]
