{By Telegraph — Pvtsz, Association). Wellington, Last Night. The result of the election of a representative of the Education .Boards of the Middle District to fill the vacancy on the Victoria College Council created by the resignation of Mr Seymour, of Picton, was declared to-day. The voting was as follows:—Joseph Mackay (Stratford), 24; Eichard MeCallum (Blenheim), V-i; H. L. James, (Wellington), 5. Mr Maekay, the successful candidate, was for many years principal of the Wellington College. Dotkdin, Last Night. A poll of Caversbam electors was taken, to-day, on the question of araalgamation with the City of Dunedin. In view of the interest taken the number of votes polled was surprisingly small. The proposal was carried, the voting being: For the amalgamation, 428; against, 22G; majority for, 202.
