General Kuropatkin's action in sending General Stackelberg to the relief] of Port Arthur was like a man undermining the foundation J of aj|house containing five storeys to the 'third storey. There are persistent reports that General Kuropatkin has been further weakened by sending forces to General Stackelberg's relict.
Part of General Nogi's fourth army, also part of General Nodzu's third, are operating against General Stackelberg. The fifth and eleventh divisions, engaged at Telesze, nominally belong to the fourth army; thus there are four divisions on the Peninsula, part on the north and part on the south of General Stackelberg's force, irrespective ot the first, third and fourth divisions, who were the victors in battles Jof Kinchau and Nauchau, andj>he are now besieging Port Arthur.
Admiral Skrydloffs supplementary report as to the shelling of the Hitehimaru and Sadomaru declares that a Japanese cruiser was watching thenijjall the while.
