Application to the Land Board

{By Telegraph—Press Association). Wellington, Last Night

A communication from the Public Works Department has been received by the Land Board, making application that an area of three thousand acres in the Waimarino forest be set aside for obtaining sleepers for the North Island Main Trunk line. The plan submitted showed a long narrow strip contiguous to the line. The Board have expressed the opinion that the boundary should be altered in order to avoid cutting off a part of the block from access to the railway, ana an effort is being made to arrange the amendment.
