AUSTRALIAN NEWS.

(Received This Morning,-at 12 5 a.m.) Sydney, Last Night.

The State Treasurer has announced that though the Government are steadily accumulating a large credit balance, they do not forget a policy of prudence with economy.

Their colleagues met and welcomed the Premier (Sir John See) and the Hon. W. Crick on their return from New Zealand. Sir John See stated that he had greatly benefitted by his holiday. He spoke enthusiastically of Rotorua and its springs, and the handsome treatment he had received at the hands of Mr Seddon and the New Zealand Government. Everything possible had been done to make his stay enjoyable and beneficial.
