There is a sort of water-famine at Lansdowne and Opaki at the present time. There usually is one at tht3 period of the year, and but for differences of opinion amongst settlers, the periodical drought would have been determined long ago. A final meeting is now called at Messrs F. H. Wood and Sons' offices, on Monday evening next, to give settlers an opportunity of adopting a good allround irrigation scheme. If settlers avail themselves of it, we shall hear no more of a thirsty Lansdowne or a parched Opaki. If, on the other hand, settlers cannot pull together, then it is probable that a few of the Lansdowne settlers, who are anxious to obtain water, will arrange a private supply, and all chance of a general combioalion to carry out a larger project will be at an end.
