PAHIATUA NOTES. (From Ow Own Correspondent). The town has resumed its normal condition after the races. Yesterday (Friday) a strong gale of wind was blowing making'things most unpleasant. A little rain fell the previous night, but this morning there waa no perceptible signs of it. The sky is thick with smoke, bush fires are raging in some pa ts of the district. Yesterday (Friday) afternoon word came through that a house had been burnt to the ground at Kaitawa; also the big bridge over the Tiraumea river, leading to the township, has gone ; and that the creamery waa in great danger. Settlers are fighting the flames. Unless rain fall further loss and damage will bp recorded.
