Lockington's sawmill, about three miles from Reefton, caught fire on Wednesday afternoon. News was telephoned to" the Reefton Brigade, and several townspeople went out, arriving just in time to save the mill and a private residence. Considerable damage was done to the sheds, which contained a large quantity of valuable timber, also to the stables. " A largo stack of timber, which was piled outside, and the workmen's huts, were completely destroyed. The insurance is small, but the exact amount is not available. It is not sufficient to cover the loss. The fire originated from a bush fire in the vicinity.
