The Anglican General Synod opened yesterday. A special service was held in the Cathedral in the morning, and in the afternoon, the Acting Primate Bishop Neville, of Dunedin) gave the opening address. Bishop Neville also dealt at length with missionary questions, re-union oi Christendom, the recent extension of boundaries of the Ecclesiastical Province, and the coming Lambeth Conference. He concluded with a stirring appeal to the Church to go forward. The election of Primate has been fixed for Monday. Archdeacon Harper is introducing a Bill to amend the fundamental provisions of constitution in such a manner as to provide for the necessary autonomy of the Church in the province of New Zealand.
