The last has boen fhe ihoafc disastrous year in the history of the railways in this State, being the result of drought and jfre carriage of Btarving stock and fodder jm , unremunerative rates. The non-pro-ductive lines are responsible for the loss of £373,000. Tho tramways showed a loss of £19,000 upon working expenses, over £20,000 being expended to meet the cost of reduction of working hours.
