The English team will leave for Australia on September 25th. It will play two matches against New South Wales and two Test matches in Sydney. The terms are that the team will take half the gate proceeds, exclusive of stands. The New South Wales Association has decided to allow the English team sixpence on everyone admitted to the stands. The Association will take half the gate proceeds and the stand money and pay all match expenses. The Philadelphians beat Gloucestershire by an innings and 26 runs, Lester taking 5 for 20 and 6 for 13. Small scoring: Hampshire, 30 against Worcestershire (Wilson 6 for 15); Gloucestershire, 31 against Kent (Hearne 8 for 15;; Essex, 78 against Warwickshire (Hargreave 8 for 42). Sussex defeated York-hire by an innings, Fry making 234. Yorkshire occupy ninth place in the county premiership, Sussex, Middlesex, Notts, and Hampshire dividing first place. At Dublin, in June, L. O. S. Poidevin scored 116 and 32 for London County against Dublin University, and at Cork 73 against the gentlemen of Ireland. Abel made " a pair " against Derbyshire.
