It will be remembered that Thomas Reid was struck from behind, and the money he was carrying for wages for the workmen was taken from him when he was lying in an unconscious state. Mr G. 11. Dolby, who has been appointed district Sanitary Inspector of the districts between Fcatlierston and Carterton, which have decided to amalgamate for the purpose of contributing towards the Inspector's salary, lias arrived in Masterton, and will take up his duties forthwith. Mr Dolby has for somo time been in tho oflico of the Iloalth Department, at Wellington, and has had considerable experience in inspection work, lie will remain in Masterton for a few days, and will then visit other districts.
