FIRE AT PAHIATUA.

(By Telegraph—Press Association), Pahiatua, This Day. Thero was a narrow escape from a disastrous iiro last night.- An old wooden bakehouse, adjoining tho largest block ot business houses in town, broke out on fire at cloven o'clock. Tho strenuous efforts of the Brigade and public saved the block as by a miracle. Tho iiro was limited to tho old bakehouse. The cause is a mystery. The insurances aro unknown. A married man named Campbell, during tho progress of the lire, fell from the roof to the ground. He remained unconscious till eight o'clock this morning, and is very much oruiscd and shaken.
