The Volunteer Match.

The Volunteer Match followed the Team 3 Match, starting with 500 yds distance. The weather was perfect and at this range and the 600 yds, the shooting showed a great improvement and was consistently good, though no possibles were made. The scoring demonstrated that the men can shoot quite as well without all the paraphernalia allowed in other matches as with it, for no extraneous aids are allowed. Cansley (Thames) and Maingay (Piako) made all outers at 500 yds. Ching (Nelson) made 33 at 600 yds, and there were several 33's and 31's, Ching and Winslade scored 64 each at the two j ranges, which was the top score. There were numerous 62's. The 200 yds will be fired this afternoon, seven shots each.
