AKITIO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Tho ordinary meeting of the Council was held at tho County Oilicc on Saturday last. Present: Councillors Burling (in the chair), I.urcb, Carolan, Dobricancy and Foreman.

Letter read from tho Department of Health and the Acting Town Clerk, Masterton, re proposed combination of local authorities, from Featherston to Pahiatua, under the Public Health Act, 1900.- -Tho Clerk was instructed to write for probable cost to the Council.

From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, stating proposals for expenditure of " thirds " had been approved. Moved by Cr. Dobricancy, and seconded by Cr. JJ-urcb, That tenders be called for metalling Manahara and AlfredtonWeber roads, tenders to close on Saturday, 14th March, and to bo dealt with by Crs. Hurling, Carolan and Debricancy. —Carried. An applicant lor charitable aid was granted four weeks' aid.

Cr. Armstrong was granted leave of absence owing to an accident.

Applications for the appointment of Engineer having been opened, the appointment was held over until next meeting.
