MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.

Tho usual mooting of tho Council was bold on Saturday, tho '28th nit. Pi .sent: Councillors C. Churchill Jackson (Chairman), V. W. 11. Kuininor, J. C. Cooper, E. Podersen, 11. J. Dagg, C. Forsborg. Correspondence was roeoived from tho Acting Town Clerk, Mastorton, who reported result of Conforcnco re defraying cost of Sanitary Inspector, and indicating that tho Borough Council is willing to contributo towards tho cost of such an ollicor.

From Chief Engineer of Roads, approving of specifications for metalling Alt Bruce-road and Dagg's-road. From Air At. Kennedy, disputing tho Council's iigurcs re quantity of culvert timber taken by his omployus from tho road.-Tho Clerk was instructed to reply.

From tho Stock Inspector, re clearing Alakakabi rivor-bod of ragwort,

Air Cable, one of the Directors of the Linio Company, and tho Secretary, Mr Watkins, met the Councillors, and proceeded to tho road to bo crossed by tho railway siding. After viewing tho pegged line, and agreeing that the Company widen tho metalled roadway for a distance of two chains, an aniicablo arrangement was arrived at, and it was decided to at onco issue tho license ponnitling the tramway to cross tho road.

Councillors Cooper and Dagg reported the result of their negotiations with Mill. Brown, re obtaining road motal for Dagg's-road and arrangement for opening pit, but as no written communication from Air Brown was presented to tho mooting, as had been expected, a dccis : on on tho matter was held over.

Air Cadwallader's tender for No. 2 contract, metalling on Alt. Bruco-road, at £2 15s per chain was accepted. It was resolved to call for fresh tenders for metalling Dagg's-road, for maintenance of Alauricoviilo North, South, and West roads, and for Jackson's-road; for delivering metal on theso roads and tho main road, also for a roadman', hut.

Cr. Forsberg was instructed to got tho bridgo on Alauricoviilo South-road, at Erickscn's, ropaired. Repairs wore authorised on Hcayn'sroad.

It was agreed, as suggested by tho Inspector, to leave out the culvert in W. Miller's contract, Alt. Bruce-road, and to appoint Air Isakson to supervise No. 2 contract, let to W. Cadwallador,

Cr. Kummer's action, at tho Conference re Sanitary Inspector, in supporting the resolution to contributo towards the cost of such an official, was confirmed.

Accounts amounting to JCI2S 4s lid wore passed for payment.
