THE ARLTUNGA GOLD FIELD.
Said to be Fabulously Rich.
» Hills of Gold."
The New Australian Goldfield.
(Received To-day, at 1.5 a.m.. London, March .. MrH. A. Grainger, Agent-General for South Australia, has cabled to bis Government asking for reliable information coaming the new goldfield discovered aS-tnnga, in tho Northern Territory of South Australia. The Sydney correspondent of the Daily Mail mentions reports of tho discovery of abundant gold, one account referring to " hills of gold," which only need quarrying. The report also states that assays; which were made at Adelaide show extraordinary richness. The Pall Mall Gazette says that " hills of gold " sounds a tall order, but, remembering Mount Morgan, it would be nothing extraordinary if Arltunga prove as rich as scores of other fields. Nevertheless, the Gazette advises tho cautious acceptance of picturesque, and probably exaggerated, reports. The Westminster Gazette says that a " quarry of gold " is a phrase distasteful to English investors; yet " hills of gold " are not novelties in Australia.
