Provincial Shield Won by the
Thorndon Team
The final of the Provincial Shield Competition, 1903, was played at Masterton, on Saturday, and resulted in Thorndon defeating the home team by 13 sets to 5, or 87 games to OS. The following games were played ; —F. R. Laishley, 3 games, 0 sets, v, C. C. Cos, 12 ganies, 2 sets; Arthur Young, 12 games, 2 sets, v. F. C. Bunny, 4 games, 0 sets; Guy Smythe, 12 games, 2 sets, ■;•-. J. A. Sellar, 3 games, 0 sets ;S. 1.. Kennedy, 9 games, 1 set, v. N. D. Bunting, 10 games, 1 set; Miss Kennedy, 0 games, 1 set, v. Miss Payton, 8 games, 1 set; Miss Marchant, 12 games 2 sets, v. Mrs- Burns, 5 games, 0 sets ; Laishley aud Young, 8 games, 1 set, v. Cox and Bunting, 11 games, 1 set; Smythe and Kennedy, 12 games, 2 sets, v. Bunny and Sellar, 8 games, 0 sets; Misses Kennedy and Marchant, 13 games, 2 sets, v. Mrs Burns and Miss Payton, 7 games, 0 sets.
