DELHI'S GREAT DURBAR.
The Pageant of a Century.
{Received To-day, at 8.16 a.m.) Bombay, December 80. The pageant was ft wonderful combination of Oriental exuberance, wealth aud splendour, with Western prooision of organisation.
The Viceroy guests and Colonial dele
gates, with noble European visitors, witJiessed tho scene from tho eteps of Gumma commanding a magnificent view o£ Ohandni Ohauk, the busiest thoroughfare of Delhi.
The Irish Rifles and Gordon, Argylo and Sutherland Highlanders lined four miles of tho route to tho camp.
Enormous crowds watched with roveront ouriosity, salaaming humbly when the Viceroy, Duke of Connaught, and high princes passod.
' Following a herald and twolvo trumpeters camo the Vicoroy's escort in scarlet and gold on picked bays (Australian horses). Portab Singh led the Vioeroy's bodyguard of thirty Imperial Cadets.
Tho princes and scions of ruling racos were mounted on black chargers. Tho elephants' procession was tho moat remarkable featura of the day.
