OLD AGE PENSIONS.

Wives with Separate Property,

The pension of £18 per annum granted to Thomas Dixon, of Wellington, in 1899, has been cancelled, because the applicant omitted to mention that his wife had property valued at £1000. The original Act did not take a wife's property into consideration, but tho amendment Act of 1900 provides that in computing tho amount of a husband's or wife's pension tho capital value of tho accumulated property of each shall be deemed to be no less than half the total of the capital value of tho accumulated property of both.
