MASTERTON'S POPULAR STATIONMASTER.

Presentation to Mr C. F. Hill,

A pleasant function took place in the Central Hotel last night, when a number of gentlemen gathered together to make a presentation to Mr C. F. Hill, stationmaster at Masterton, in order to evidence the appreciation of the Napier Flying Club for tho services rendered by Mr Hill. Mr T. Pcttigrcw, in presenting Mr Hill with a sot of pipes in morocco case, cigar and cigarette holders, and silver match box, stated that he had been asked by the Napier Club to make the presentation. Mr Hill had been most obliging and attentive in tho liberation of pigeons, and his services in that direction could not possibly be allowed to pass without receiving duo recognition. The health of Mr Hill was honoured enthusiastically with musical honours. licferonco was also made to Mr Hill's good qualities by Messrs M, C. O'Counoll, J. Whittakcr, J. Macara and G. 11. Goodall. In replying, Mr Hill returned his sincere thanks for their valued gifts, and remarked that while he studied the. interests of the Department he also tried to study the interests of the publio. The health of Mr F. Moellcr, vicoPresident of the Napier Club, was also duly honoured.
