Value of Cow Covers.
A dairyman in Australia with a natural desire to produce us much butter and us cheaply as possible, writes that by blankoting cows the cost of a pound of
butter was reduced from lid to 6d. (It certainly is costing enough now, and tho wonder is how it ever cost him lid; but what is interesting to dairymen most is tho groat saving oll'uctcd). Not only was tho expense for food reduced, ho says, but overy cow increased her yield after being blanketed in inclement weather. Ho further says: "Tho single covv, .Daisy, is an cxnniplo of what covers will do fo'v cows. Before sho had a cover on tho most milk sho over gavo in one year was 800 gallons, making 400 pounds of butter, separator and churn test. For tho last thrco years, under cover, .sho has given, oach year, 1,300 gallons of milk, making from' 742 to 750 pounds of butter each year, same tost."
