INFORMATION FOR FARMERS.
Qur Special Contributor, in his chapter of Farm Notes, which appears, on tho fourth page, to-day, gives a lengthy extract dealing with the all-im-portant question : " What is a good dairy cow'?" His source of information is Professor Ilacckcr, who read a paper on the subject before the Connecticut Dairymen's Association. The hints will be found particularly serviceable coming, us they do, from such an eminent source. There is also a useful article describing in detail tlie bxst fopd for growing pigs, showing the value qf hardwoqd ashes, as an adjunct of tho daily'ration giyon to growing pigs. Thero is, no doubt, a strong case niailo out in favour of using wood ashes, or bone meal, as a help to pig feeding, if the industry is to be profitably earned on. Tho two subjects are as important as any that have appeared in the Farm Notes column for it considerable time past, and will well repay careful perusal by farmers and those interested iv the pork industry.
